University of Minho Technology and Digital Art Program Joins Leonardo Affiliate Membership Program

The Master Program in Technology and Digital Art is organized by the University of Minho, one of the recognized top universities in Portugal, with the participation of faculty from the schools of Architecture, Communication Sciences, Engineering, Psychology and Education. It approaches technology as a tool for artistic expression, exploring new concepts for interactive experiences. This master program bridges engineering, design and artistic processes from conceptualization through prototyping to the implementation stage. It is oriented towards individuals with an artistic or technological background aiming at acquiring a different point of view on their creative process. It provides hands-on experience through the development of projects during the semester, working closely with the teaching staff. Seminars, exhibitions, and other opportunities are organized for the students to exhibit their work. Find out more

Project "math goes art" by Herbert W. Franke

Computer artist and physicist Prof. Dr. Herbert W. Franke, senior fellow of the ZIB in Berlin, launched a research project called "math goes art." The Konrad-Zuse-Institut für Informationstechnik Berlin (ZIB) is a German research institute working in the field of information technology. In this project, a virtual three dimensional world will be set up on the Internet for presentations and experiments in the field of mathematics and art. The platform used for this project is "active worlds." The so called "Z-Galaxy" will be opened to the public at the end of 2009. Find out more
